JEE Main & Advanced Home Tuition in Gurgaon – One-to-One IIT-JEE Coaching at Home or Online

By the Ajay Vatsyayan Classes Home Tutors Team · Reviewed by Ajay Vatsyayan (Founder; B.Tech; IB and Cambridge IGCSE experienced). Last reviewed: 30 September 2026.

Ajay Vatsyayan Classes provides one-to-one JEE Main and JEE Advanced home tuition in Gurgaon for Class 11, Class 12 and drop-year students, in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. A tutor from our Home Tutors Team teaches at your home or live online, starting with a diagnostic and building one plan for board exams and JEE together. You meet the tutor in a free demo class before you decide.

If you searched for "JEE coaching in Gurgaon" or an "IIT tutor", this is IIT-JEE coaching at home: one tutor, one student. We have taught in Gurgaon (Gurugram) for 12+ years, with 25,000+ students, 500+ verified tutors and families from 50+ Gurgaon schools. This page is the hub for our JEE support: the method, the official 2026 exam facts, a subject-wise plan and our maths and physics guides.

How one-to-one JEE home tuition works

Four steps, and every session is one tutor with one student:

StepWhat happens
1. DiagnosticA short test on chapters done at school, then a review to find why marks are lost: concept gaps, slips, wrong method or time.
2. PlanChapter targets, school test and board dates, practicals, and the JEE Main session dates from the current NTA bulletin.
3. Weekly cycleUsually two or three sessions of 60–90 minutes per subject. Each chapter is taught to board level, then JEE Main level in the same week, then Advanced level for IIT aspirants. Timed practice and an error log between sessions.
4. Mock reviewFull-length papers from Class 12 (earlier for strong students). Every question is sorted: correct and quick, correct but slow, careless, or reteach. Parents get an update after each mock.

Home or online? Home sessions suit long problem-solving on paper, where the tutor sees every line of working; live online sessions suit mock reviews and exam weeks. Many students use both, with the same tutor.

From our tutors: the students who improve fastest are rarely those who solve the most questions; they keep an honest error log. Writing "sign error, line 3" or "used kinematics when energy was quicker" stops a repeated mistake far sooner than a tutor's correction.

JEE Main and JEE Advanced: the 2026 facts

JEE Main, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is used for B.E./B.Tech admission to NITs, IIITs and other centrally funded technical institutions, and qualifies students for JEE Advanced, which the IITs conduct for admission to the 23 IITs. Facts below are from the JEE (Main) 2026 information bulletin and syllabus (jeemain.nta.nic.in) and the JEE (Advanced) 2026 brochure (jeeadv.ac.in), checked on 30 September 2026. The 2027 documents were not yet published, so 2027 details are not confirmed.

JEE Main 2026, Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech)JEE (Advanced) 2026
StructureTwo sessions (January and April). One 3-hour computer-based paper: 75 questions, 300 marks. Maths, Physics and Chemistry each have 25 questions (20 multiple-choice + 5 numerical-value) for 100 marksTwo compulsory papers of 3 hours each, on the same day. Question types and marking are given in the paper's instructions
Marking+4 correct, −1 wrong, 0 unanswered, in both sections. Numerical answers rounded to the nearest integer. Calculators not allowedThe brochure says some questions may carry negative marks
Who can sit itNo age limit. Class 12 passed in 2024 or 2025, or appearing in 2026Top 2,50,000 in JEE Main 2026 Paper 1 (all categories); born on or after 1 October 2001 (five years' relaxation for SC, ST, PwD); Class 12 first taken in 2025 or 2026 with PCM; never admitted to an IIT
AttemptsAllowed in the year of Class 12 and the two years after, with two sessions each year. The better of the two session scores countsAt most two attempts, in two consecutive years

The 75% board rule

Class 12 marks matter too. For admission to the IITs, the 2026 brochure requires at least 75% aggregate in Class 12 (65% for SC, ST and PwD candidates) or a place in the category-wise top 20 percentile of the student's own board. The JEE Main 2026 bulletin sets the same rule for the NITs, IIITs and other institutions that admit through JoSAA and CSAB. The aggregate uses five subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, a language (the higher one if there are two), and the highest-scoring other subject, each scaled to 100.

Example: Physics 70, Chemistry 68, Mathematics 82, English 80, Computer Science 88, Physical Education 91. The fifth subject is Physical Education (the highest other subject): (70 + 68 + 82 + 80 + 91) ÷ 500 = 391 ÷ 500 = 78.2%, which clears 75%. One weak subject can pull a student under, so board work never slips behind JEE work.

The pattern of dates

These are the 2026 dates. The 2027 dates are not confirmed; expect a similar order, and check the official notices.

Stage2026 dates (official)
JEE Main Session 1: applications31 October to 27 November 2025
JEE Main Session 1: exam21 to 30 January 2026 (result by 12 February)
JEE Main Session 2: exam2 to 9 April 2026 (applications from the last week of January; result by 20 April)
JEE Advanced registrationFrom 23 April 2026 (the brochure gave 2 May as the closing date)
JEE Advanced exam17 May 2026: Paper 1 09:00–12:00, Paper 2 14:30–17:30 IST
JEE Advanced result and counsellingResult on 1 June 2026; JoSAA seat allocation tentatively from 2 June

Class 11, Class 12 and droppers

The plan depends on the student's year:

StageMain goalHow the tuition runs
Class 11Build the base: mechanics, vectors, algebra, trigonometry, the mole concept and organic basics are all Class 11School chapter first, then JEE depth on it. Class 11 exams are set by the school, so we add our own chapter tests to catch gaps early
Class 12Finish the syllabus, protect board marks (75% rule), build speedSyllabus finished well before Session 1, then mixed revision and mocks, with board revision and practicals planned in
Drop yearFix what went wrong, not repeat everythingDiagnostic from last year's papers and section scores; weak chapters retaught, strong ones kept warm, mocks start early

For droppers: under the 2026 rules, a student who first took Class 12 in 2026 could sit JEE Advanced that year and once more the next (whether 2027 keeps this is not confirmed). The 2026 brochure also let a 2025 Class 12 student reappear in any number of subjects to reach 75%, with the higher mark in each subject counting. See also can a weak student crack IIT JEE? and when Class 11 students should start JEE preparation.

Board exams and JEE in one plan

Board and JEE preparation work better as one plan than as two. JEE Main sits on the same Class 11–12 chapters as CBSE and ISC, so each chapter is taught once: to board standard, then to JEE standard.

A subject-wise JEE plan

Each subject carries 100 of the 300 marks in JEE Main Paper 1, but each loses marks differently.

SubjectJEE Main 2026 syllabusWhere marks are usually lostWhat the tutor focuses on
Mathematics14 units, from sets and functions to trigonometryAlgebra slips, slow methods, weak Class 11 trigonometry and conicsAlgebra fluency, method choice, timed sets; maths is the first tie-breaker subject in both exams
Physics20 units, including Unit 20, Experimental SkillsFree-body diagrams, vector components, units, formula-huntingOne diagram per body, working from first principles (energy, momentum), checking units and limiting cases
Chemistry20 units: physical (1–8), inorganic (9–12), organic (13–19) and practical chemistry (20)Mole-concept arithmetic, unlearned NCERT inorganic facts, organic mechanisms learned as listsNumericals practised to speed, NCERT read line by line, reaction maps for organic

Mathematics

Our JEE maths tutor in Gurgaon page covers Main vs Advanced maths and the Class 11 vs 12 topics. In short: Class 11 algebra and trigonometry decide Class 12 calculus, so a student who is behind relearns those base skills rather than restarting. For maths beyond JEE, see maths home tutors in Gurgaon.

Physics

Our JEE physics tutor in Gurgaon page covers Main vs Advanced syllabus differences and experimental skills. In short: Class 11 mechanics underpins Class 12 electricity and magnetism, and with no calculator in JEE Main, quick approximation is practised from the first month. Board support: physics tuition in Gurgaon.

Chemistry

In our experience, chemistry is often the quickest subject to improve: physical chemistry is numerical practice, inorganic is careful NCERT recall, and organic rewards understanding mechanisms over memorising reactions. See our chemistry tuition in Gurgaon page.

Worked example (mole concept): 0.5 mol of N2 reacts with 2.0 mol of H2 by N2 + 3H2 → 2NH3. Find the limiting reactant and the mass of NH3. 0.5 mol N2 needs 3 × 0.5 = 1.5 mol H2, and 2.0 mol is available, so N2 is limiting and 0.5 mol H2 is left over. NH3 formed = 2 × 0.5 = 1.0 mol = 17 g (molar mass 17 g/mol). Common error: comparing moles directly (0.5 < 2.0) instead of against the 1 : 3 ratio, which works here only by luck.

From our tutors: students short of time often drop inorganic chemistry as "just memory", yet those NCERT-based questions are some of the quickest marks in the paper. We set 10–15 minute daily recall drills instead of one cram before the exam.

BITSAT and CUET in brief

Many JEE students also sit BITSAT or keep CUET (UG) as an option. From the official 2026 documents:

  • BITSAT 2026 (BITS Pilani, admissions.bits-pilani.ac.in): a 3-hour computer-based test of 130 multiple-choice questions: Physics 30, Chemistry 30, English Proficiency 10, Logical Reasoning 20, and Mathematics 40 (Biology for some programmes). +3 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong one. Two sessions; up to two attempts. Eligibility for most B.E. programmes: 75% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Class 12, with at least 60% in each.
  • CUET (UG) 2026 (NTA, cuet.nta.nic.in): for undergraduate admission to central and participating universities. Candidates choose up to five subjects, including languages and the General Aptitude Test. Each paper has 50 compulsory questions in 60 minutes, with +5 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one. Exams were scheduled for 11–31 May 2026 (tentative).

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer IIT-JEE coaching in Gurgaon at home, or only online?

Both, always one-to-one. Our tutors visit homes across Gurgaon, from DLF and Golf Course Road to Sohna Road, New Gurgaon and Dwarka Expressway, and also teach live online.

Can one tutor teach all three subjects?

Usually each subject has its own specialist tutor, working from one shared plan. Many students take only the subject they need, most often maths or physics.

When should my child start JEE preparation?

The start of Class 11 is the ideal time, before gaps build up. Students starting in Class 12 or a drop year can still improve a lot with a selective plan.

What is the 75% rule for IITs and NITs?

In 2026, IIT, NIT and IIIT admission needed at least 75% in Class 12 (65% for SC, ST and PwD) or a top 20 percentile place in the student's board. Check your year's rule on jeeadv.ac.in.

How much does JEE home tuition cost?

One-to-one home tuition with us usually costs ₹600 to ₹3,000 per hour depending on class, board and subject. Our guide to home tuition charges in Gurgaon explains what is fair, and we confirm your fee before the first paid session.

Who will teach my child, and do you guarantee a rank?

A tutor from the Ajay Vatsyayan Classes Home Tutors Team, matched to your child's class, board, subjects and area. All JEE content is reviewed by our founder, Ajay Vatsyayan. You meet the tutor in the free demo first. We do not guarantee ranks or percentiles; nobody honestly can.
