Class 11 Home Tutors in Gurgaon – One-to-One PCM, PCB and Commerce Tuition, at Home or Online

By the Ajay Vatsyayan Classes Home Tutors Team · Reviewed by Ajay Vatsyayan (Founder; B.Tech; IB and Cambridge IGCSE experienced). Last reviewed: 30 September 2026.

Ajay Vatsyayan Classes provides one-to-one Class 11 home tutors in Gurgaon for Science (PCM and PCB), Commerce and Humanities, for CBSE and ISC students, at your home or in live online classes. A tutor from our Home Tutors Team starts with a short diagnostic, builds a plan around your child's school tests and the Class 12 board exam ahead, and, where needed, JEE or NEET preparation. You meet the tutor in a free demo class before you decide.

We have taught in Gurgaon (Gurugram) for 12+ years, with 25,000+ students, 500+ verified tutors and families from 50+ Gurgaon schools. Many parents find us by searching for "home tutors near me for Class 11" in the first term, when the step up from Class 10 becomes obvious. This page explains why Class 11 is hard, what the CBSE and ISC documents say, and how our Class 11 tuition in Gurgaon works.

How one-to-one Class 11 tuition works

Our Class 11 tuition has four parts: a diagnostic, a written plan, a weekly teaching cycle, and regular tests with review. Every session is one tutor with one student, at home or online.

StepWhat happens
1. DiagnosticThe tutor checks the Class 10 base that Class 11 needs (algebra and trigonometry for PCM, the mole concept and cell biology for PCB, arithmetic and percentages for Commerce) and the chapters already taught at school.
2. PlanChapters in the school's teaching order, unit tests, half-yearly and final exam dates, practical and project deadlines and, if relevant, a JEE, NEET or CUET track.
3. Weekly cycleTwo or three sessions of 60–90 minutes: teach the school chapter from NCERT (CBSE) or the CISCE syllabus (ISC), then graded questions up to exam level; a practice set and a short timed test between sessions; an error log of every mistake and its fix.
4. Tests and reviewTimed full papers before each school exam; every lost mark is sorted by cause. Parents get a short update after each test.

From our tutors: the Class 11 students who struggle most are often not those with the lowest Class 10 marks, but those who scored well by memorising solved examples. Class 11 keeps giving unfamiliar problems, so we first build one habit: before writing, state what is given, what is asked and which idea connects them.

Why Class 11 is the hardest jump

Class 11 is the biggest step in school: subjects become specialised and much deeper, yet the year is examined by the school, not the board, so it is easy to underestimate. Its content is the base for the Class 12 board exam and about half of the JEE Main and NEET physics syllabus. Facts below are from CBSE's 2026–27 Senior Secondary curriculum on cbseacademic.nic.in and CISCE's ISC regulations and syllabuses on cisce.org, checked on 30 September 2026.

CBSE Class 11 in 2026–27

  • One two-year course. Classes 11 and 12 are a composite course: students take in Class 11 only the subjects they will continue in Class 12. The minimum is five subjects, and Hindi or English must be one of the languages.
  • Combinations not allowed. Mathematics (041) with Applied Mathematics (241); Business Studies (054) with Business Administration (833); more than one of Informatics Practices, Computer Science and Information Technology.
  • Assessed by the school. The curriculum says Class 11 assessment is "similar to class XII Board examination" but carried out at school level, with grades from A1 (91–100) down to D (33–40); 32 and below is "Essential Repeat".

ISC Class 11

CISCE's Regulations for the 2027 examination say the ISC Class 11 final examination is conducted internally by the school. Promotion needs at least 35% in five subjects, including English, on the cumulative average, and 75% attendance. Subjects cannot be changed after 15 September of the Class 11 year, and a subject cannot be taken in Class 12 unless it was studied in Class 11.

Students now in Class 11 sit the ISC exam in 2028. In CISCE's 2028 syllabuses (January 2026), Physics, Chemistry and Biology each have 70 theory marks, a 15-mark practical, a 10-mark project and a 5-mark practical file; Mathematics (860) has 80 theory marks (sets and functions 18, algebra 26, coordinate geometry 20, calculus 8, statistics and probability 8) and 20 for projects; Accountancy has 80 theory and 20 project marks. See our ISC home tutors for Class 11–12.

What makes it hard in practice

  • New tools, early: Physics uses vectors and basic calculus from the first units.
  • A false sense of time: with no board exam, gaps are often found only in Class 12.

Streams and subjects: PCM, PCB, Commerce and Humanities

Under CBSE, a "stream" is really the set of five or six subjects a school allows together. Our tutors teach every main Class 11 subject in each stream, for CBSE and ISC. If your child is still choosing, our guide to which stream to choose after Class 10 explains the options.

Science with Mathematics (PCM)

  • Physics: measurement, kinematics, laws of motion, work and energy, rotation, gravitation, properties of matter, thermodynamics, kinetic theory, oscillations and waves. Focus: vectors, free body diagrams and numericals with units. See our physics tuition in Gurgaon.
  • Chemistry: the mole concept, atomic structure, periodicity, bonding, thermodynamics, equilibrium, redox and organic basics. Focus: stoichiometry, equilibrium numericals and naming. See our chemistry tuition in Gurgaon.
  • Mathematics: sets and functions, trigonometric functions, complex numbers, permutations and combinations, binomial theorem, sequences and series, straight lines, conic sections, limits and derivatives, statistics and probability. Focus: algebra fluency and trigonometry, which Class 12 calculus depends on. See our maths home tutors in Gurgaon.

Science with Biology (PCB)

Biology covers diversity of living organisms, structural organisation, the cell, plant physiology and human physiology, which carries the most CBSE theory marks (18 of 70). Focus: labelled diagrams, precise terms and steady revision; see our biology tuition in Gurgaon. PCB students take the same Physics and Chemistry as PCM, and many underestimate the Physics numericals.

Commerce

  • Accountancy: journal, ledger, trial balance, bank reconciliation, depreciation and a sole proprietor's financial statements; the accounting process unit carries 44 of 80 theory marks. See our accountancy tuition in Gurgaon.
  • Economics: Statistics for Economics and Introductory Microeconomics. See our economics tuition in Gurgaon.
  • Business Studies: forms of business, business services, sources of finance, small business, internal and international trade. See our business studies tuition in Gurgaon.

Humanities

History, Political Science, Geography, Psychology and Sociology reward wide reading and well-structured long answers. Tutors help with note-making and answer structure. We also teach English, Hindi and other languages through our language tuition in Gurgaon.

Class 11 with JEE or NEET preparation

For a JEE or NEET aspirant, Class 11 is not a warm-up year. The JEE Main 2026 and NEET (UG) 2026 syllabuses each have 20 physics units, and the first ten match the Class 11 physics units almost name for name. In 2026, JEE Main Paper 1 had 75 questions for 300 marks (25 each in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry), and NEET (UG) had 180 questions for 720 marks (45 Physics, 45 Chemistry, 90 Biology). Always check the current bulletin on jeemain.nta.nic.in or neet.nta.nic.in.

Our tutors teach the school chapter first, then add the depth and speed the entrance exam needs on the same chapter. Useful reading: Class 11 physics for JEE, ISC Class 11 physics, JEE Maths syllabus: Class 11 vs Class 12, the NEET physics syllabus and exam pattern and ISC vs CBSE for JEE and NEET. For specialist support, see our JEE physics tutor in Gurgaon, JEE maths tutor in Gurgaon and NEET physics tutor in Gurgaon pages.

From our tutors: the JEE and NEET students who find Class 12 electrostatics hard usually have a Class 11 vectors problem, not an electrostatics problem. We make resolving forces and adding vectors at an angle automatic in the first months of Class 11, because almost everything later depends on it.

Mathematics or Applied Mathematics?

Mathematics (041) is the course for PCM and for anyone keeping engineering and the widest range of options open. Applied Mathematics (241) was designed for commerce, economics and the social sciences. CBSE does not allow both.

Mathematics (041)Applied Mathematics (241)
Class 11 marks80 theory + 20 internal80 theory + 20 internal
Class 11 unitsAs in the CBSE table aboveNumbers and quantification 10, algebra 18, calculus 12, combinatorics and probability 10, descriptive statistics 10, basics of financial mathematics 15, coordinate geometry 5
SuitsPCM, JEE, and any student who wants Mathematics itselfCommerce and Humanities students
CheckWhether target university programmes accept Applied Mathematics where they ask for Mathematics

After Mathematics Basic in Class 10, CBSE's circular of 27 May 2025 allows Mathematics (041) in Class 11 if the head of school is satisfied with the student's aptitude; the relaxation ends when the new NCF-SE scheme is implemented. Our guide to Class 10 Maths Standard vs Basic explains this. In ISC, Mathematics (860) and Applied Mathematics (885) also cannot be taken together.

Three worked Class 11 examples

Questions of the kind our tutors use early in Class 11, each checked by calculation.

1. Mathematics (trigonometric functions): find the exact value of cos 15°

Write 15° = 45° − 30° and use cos (A − B) = cos A cos B + sin A sin B.
cos 15° = cos 45° cos 30° + sin 45° sin 30° = (1/√2)(√3/2) + (1/√2)(1/2) = (√3 + 1)/(2√2).
Rationalising: (√3 + 1)/(2√2) × √2/√2 = (√6 + √2)/4 ≈ 0.9659.
Answer: cos 15° = (√6 + √2)/4. Common error: writing cos 45° − cos 30°, which treats cosine as if it were linear.

2. Physics (motion in a straight line): a car speeds up uniformly from 10 m/s to 30 m/s over 100 m. Find its acceleration and the time taken.

Given u = 10 m/s, v = 30 m/s, s = 100 m. Use v² = u² + 2as: 900 = 100 + 200a, so a = 4 m/s².
Then v = u + at: 30 = 10 + 4t, so t = 5 s.
Check with s = ut + ½at² = 10 × 5 + ½ × 4 × 25 = 50 + 50 = 100 m, which matches.
Answer: a = 4 m/s², t = 5 s. The skill is choosing the equation that avoids the unknown.

3. Accountancy (depreciation): a machine is bought for ₹1,00,000 and ₹10,000 is spent on installation. Its useful life is 5 years and its scrap value ₹10,000. Find the annual depreciation by the straight line method and the book value after 3 years.

Installation is part of the cost, so the cost of the asset is ₹1,10,000.
Annual depreciation = (cost − scrap value) ÷ useful life = (1,10,000 − 10,000) ÷ 5 = ₹20,000.
Book value after 3 years = 1,10,000 − 3 × 20,000 = ₹50,000.
Answer: ₹20,000 a year; book value ₹50,000. Common error: leaving installation out of the cost.
