Ajay Vatsyayan Classes provides a one-to-one JEE physics tutor in Gurgaon for Class 11, Class 12 and drop-year students preparing for JEE Main and JEE Advanced. A physics tutor from our Home Tutors Team teaches at your home or online, starts with a diagnostic test, builds a chapter plan around the school calendar, and reviews every mock test with the student. You meet the tutor in a free demo class before you commit.
We have taught in Gurgaon (Gurugram) for 12+ years, with 25,000+ students, 500+ verified tutors and families from 50+ Gurgaon schools. This page explains how JEE physics is examined, how to combine it with your child's board, and how to judge whether a JEE physics home tutor in Gurgaon is the right choice.
Our JEE physics tutoring runs in four stages: a diagnostic, a written plan, a weekly teaching cycle, and mock-test analysis. Physics needs this structure because marks are usually lost between understanding a concept and turning it into equations, and that gap is different for every student.
The first session is a short test, not a lecture. The tutor sets 12–15 questions from chapters already covered at school, asks the student to think aloud on a few, then goes through the answers together to find out why marks are lost. In physics, lost marks usually fall into five types:
Here is the kind of question we use. Two blocks of 3 kg and 2 kg hang on either side of a light string over a smooth, light pulley. Taking g = 10 m/s², find the acceleration of the blocks. A student with good habits draws one free-body diagram per block, writes 3g − T = 3a and T − 2g = 2a, adds the two equations and gets a = (3 − 2)g / 5 = 2 m/s². A student who has only memorised "a = (m₁ − m₂)g / (m₁ + m₂)" gets the same answer, but is stuck once the question adds friction or a third block.
The tutor then writes a plan with the family. It lists the chapters in order with target dates, the school test, practical and board exam dates, and the mock-test schedule. For a Class 12 student it works back from the JEE Main session dates in the current NTA information bulletin.
A typical three-session week, adjusted to the school timetable:
| Session | What happens | Student's own work before the next session |
|---|---|---|
| Session 1 (90 min) | Build the new concept from first principles, then 8–10 graded questions from board level to JEE Main level | A 15–20 question set without solutions, every diagram drawn in full |
| Session 2 (90 min) | Check the set, reteach the mistakes, then JEE Main previous-year questions on the chapter | A timed set of 10 questions at about 2–3 minutes each, including numerical-value questions |
| Session 3 (60–90 min) | Mixed revision of older chapters, plus multi-concept problems for students aiming at JEE Advanced | Keep an error log: each mistake, its type and the principle that should have been used |
From our tutors: the habit that most separates improving students from stuck ones in physics is the unit and dimension check. Before moving on, the student checks the units and a limiting case (what if the angle becomes 90°?). It takes seconds and catches many errors that would otherwise cost negative marks.
From Class 12 (or earlier for strong students), the student sits full-length mock tests under exam conditions, without a calculator, as in the real exam. The tutor then reviews the physics section, sorting every question into four groups:
Because the JEE Main 2026 pattern has negative marking in both question types (see the next section), knowing what not to attempt is a skill a tutor can teach student by student.

JEE Advanced is the second-stage exam for IIT admission, open only to the top JEE Main candidates. Advanced goes deeper, adds some topics and tests reasoning across chapters. The facts below come from the official JEE Main 2026 information bulletin and syllabus on jeemain.nta.nic.in and the JEE (Advanced) 2026 information brochure on jeeadv.ac.in. Patterns can change each year, so always check the bulletin and brochure for your own exam year.

| Sessions / papers | Two sessions: 21–30 January 2026 and 2–9 April 2026. Overall merit merges NTA scores from all shifts of both sessions | Two papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2), each three hours, held on 17 May 2026. Both papers are compulsory |
| Physics questions | 25 per paper: 20 multiple-choice questions (Section A) and 5 numerical-value questions (Section B) | A Physics section in each paper. Question types and marking are given in the instructions at the time of the exam |
| Physics marks | 100 out of a paper total of 300 (75 questions across Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry) | Physics marks = Physics part of Paper 1 + Physics part of Paper 2 |
| Marking | +4 for a correct answer, −1 for a wrong answer, 0 if unanswered, in both Section A and Section B. Numerical answers are rounded off to the nearest integer | The brochure says negative marks may be awarded for incorrect answers in some questions |
| Calculator | Not permitted in any form (NTA public notice, 2 November 2025) | Follow the instructions in the brochure and on the paper |
| Where physics decides ties | Second tie-breaker: NTA score in Mathematics first, then NTA score in Physics, then Chemistry | After higher positive marks, the tie-breakers are higher marks in Mathematics, then higher marks in Physics |
| Who can sit it | See eligibility in the bulletin | Top 2,50,000 successful candidates (all categories) in the JEE Main 2026 B.E./B.Tech paper; maximum two attempts in two consecutive years; other criteria in the brochure |
Two points shape how we teach. A wrong numerical-value answer costs a mark in the 2026 pattern, so guessing an integer is not free. And with no calculator allowed, students must be fluent with approximations and powers of ten, so we practise that arithmetic from the first month.
The JEE Main 2026 physics syllabus has 20 units, from Units and Measurements to Electronic Devices, with Unit 20 on Experimental Skills. The JEE (Advanced) 2026 physics syllabus is grouped differently (General, Mechanics, Thermal Physics, Electricity and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Waves, Optics, Modern Physics) and names several ideas that the JEE Main 2026 syllabus does not. Comparing the two official documents:

The bigger difference is question style. JEE Main rewards speed on standard situations; JEE Advanced rewards taking an unfamiliar set-up apart and deciding which principles apply. Our tutors teach every chapter to Main level first, then add Advanced problem sets once the student is fast and accurate.
A note on weightage: the official documents give the syllabus and the pattern, not chapter-wise weightage. Any weightage table, including ours, is an analysis of past papers. It helps plan revision but is not a promise about the next paper.
The JEE syllabus is not officially split by class, but schools teach it over two years, and that order shapes preparation. The table follows the CBSE 2026–27 physics curriculum (NCERT chapters), which most CBSE schools in Gurgaon use. ISC and international schools may teach some chapters in a different term.
| Area | Usually taught in Class 11 | Usually taught in Class 12 |
|---|---|---|
| Measurement | Units and measurements, dimensions, errors, significant figures | Used throughout practical work |
| Mechanics | Motion in a straight line and in a plane; laws of motion; work, energy and power; system of particles and rotational motion; gravitation | Mechanics ideas reused inside electrostatics, magnetism and modern physics |
| Properties of matter and heat | Mechanical properties of solids and fluids; thermal properties of matter; thermodynamics; kinetic theory | — |
| Oscillations and waves | Oscillations (SHM); waves, including standing waves and beats | Wave optics builds on the same superposition ideas |
| Electricity and magnetism | — | Electric charges and fields; potential and capacitance; current electricity; moving charges and magnetism; magnetism and matter; electromagnetic induction; alternating current; electromagnetic waves |
| Optics | — | Ray optics and optical instruments; wave optics |
| Modern physics | — | Dual nature of radiation and matter; atoms; nuclei; semiconductor electronics |
Class 11 carries most of the reasoning JEE builds on. A charged particle in an electric field is a projectile problem; a rod sliding on rails in a magnetic field is a Newton's-laws problem with an extra force. In our teaching, students who struggle in Class 12 are usually weak in Class 11 free-body diagrams, vectors and energy methods, not in Class 12 ideas.
From our tutors: if a Class 12 student is behind, we do not restart the syllabus from Chapter 1. We reteach the handful of Class 11 skills that Class 12 chapters rely on (free-body diagrams, components of vectors, work–energy, SHM and circular motion), then move straight to Class 12 work and revisit Class 11 chapters through mixed practice.
Class 9 and 10 students need confident algebra and the habit of drawing a diagram first, not JEE problems. For the Class 11 start, our blog on when Class 11 students should start JEE preparation sets out a sensible first term. Worried parents should read can a weak student crack IIT JEE? for an honest view.
Experiments are part of JEE physics, not just a school requirement. Unit 20 of the JEE Main 2026 physics syllabus, "Experimental Skills", lists 18 experiments and activities, and the "General" section of the JEE (Advanced) 2026 syllabus includes measurement methods and error analysis for a list of experiments. Questions test the set-up, readings and errors, not a recited procedure.
The JEE Main 2026 list includes vernier callipers and screw gauge; the simple pendulum; Young's modulus, surface tension and viscosity; speed of sound with a resonance tube; specific heat by the method of mixtures; metre bridge, Ohm's law and galvanometer experiments; focal length, prism deviation and refractive index; and diode and Zener diode characteristic curves. The JEE (Advanced) 2026 list overlaps heavily and also names the post office box and the u-v method for focal length. Check the full lists for your exam year.
Least count. On a vernier calliper, 10 vernier divisions equal 9 main-scale divisions of 1 mm each. What is the least count? One vernier division = 0.9 mm, so the least count = 1 mm − 0.9 mm = 0.1 mm. For a screw gauge with a pitch of 0.5 mm and 50 circular divisions, the least count is 0.5 / 50 = 0.01 mm. Most lost marks come from zero error: subtract a positive zero error, add a negative one.
Error propagation. In the simple pendulum, g = 4π²L / T². If L has a 1% error and T has a 1% error, what is the maximum percentage error in g? Relative errors add, and a power multiplies its error, so Δg/g = ΔL/L + 2(ΔT/T) = 1% + 2% = 3%.
The CBSE 2026–27 curriculum gives physics practicals 30 marks out of 100 in both Class 11 and Class 12 (70 theory, 30 practical), so students already spend lab time on these experiments. Our tutors use that lab work: before a school practical the student predicts the graph and likely errors; afterwards we set JEE-style questions on the same experiment.
JEE physics can be combined with any board, but the extra work depends on how closely the board matches JEE. For CBSE and ISC the main job is adding depth and speed; IB and IGCSE students also need some topics and the JEE question style taught separately.
CBSE Class 11–12 physics follows the NCERT textbooks, and most JEE Main units sit on the same chapters. The risk for CBSE students is stopping at board level. A board question asks for a derivation; a JEE question combines two ideas and expects the answer in two or three minutes. Our tutors teach each chapter to board standard first, then extend it to JEE standard in the same week, so no chapter is studied twice.
ISC physics covers most of the JEE content, with its own chapter order and a strong emphasis on written working, which helps with JEE Advanced reasoning. We build the Class 12 plan backwards from both the ISC and JEE Main dates. See our ISC home tutors in Gurgaon page for board support.
IB DP Physics (especially HL) overlaps with parts of JEE, including mechanics, thermal physics, waves, fields and nuclear physics, but the depth and style differ. IB students often need extra work on rotation, electrostatics, circuits and fast objective problem-solving, and are often used to a calculator, which JEE Main 2026 does not allow. Time is the real constraint, with the IA, Extended Essay and TOK in the same two years. Ajay Vatsyayan teaches IB and JEE maths and physics, so the plan can be built as one timetable rather than two competing ones. See our IB home tutors in Gurgaon page.
IGCSE students usually move to IB, A Levels or an Indian board after Grade 10. If JEE is the plan, the gap to close first is mathematical physics: vectors, graphs, algebraic rearrangement and the basic calculus that JEE mechanics uses. Read more on our IGCSE home tutors in Gurgaon page.
For all boards, check eligibility in the current JEE Main bulletin and JEE Advanced brochure for your year of passing Class 12.
| Board | Overlap with JEE physics | Main extra work for JEE |
|---|---|---|
| CBSE | High (NCERT-based) | Depth, speed, multi-concept questions; experiment-based questions beyond the lab file |
| ISC | High | Speed and objective-question technique; planning around ISC practical and theory dates |
| IB DP Physics | Partial | JEE depth in mechanics, electricity and optics; working without a calculator; time around IA and EE deadlines |
| Cambridge IGCSE | Foundation only | Vectors, graphs and basic calculus for physics before Class 11-level JEE work |
Every student is matched with a physics tutor from the Ajay Vatsyayan Classes Home Tutors Team, whom parents meet in the demo class before committing.
You can ask for a male or female tutor when you book. We match on subject and level first, then on your preference, location and timing. For physics support outside JEE, from middle school to Class 12 across all boards, see our page on physics tuition in Gurgaon. Because physics and maths are so closely linked in JEE, many families also use our JEE maths tutor in Gurgaon service.
We do not promise ranks, percentiles or selection; no honest tutor can. We promise a clear plan, a tutor who works from the current syllabus and pattern, and honest feedback to parents.
Our JEE physics home tutors travel to students across Gurgaon, and every student can switch to online one-to-one sessions during exam weeks, travel or heavy school terms. If you are searching for "JEE physics tuition near me" or "physics tuition near me for Class 12" from any of the areas below, a tutor can usually come to your home.
A tutor who comes to you saves the commute to an institute, time a JEE student needs for practice. For costs, which depend on class, mode and number of sessions a week, read our guide to home tuition charges in Gurgaon. We confirm the fee before you start.
Our tutors work from each board's syllabus and the school calendar, so they can support students from any Gurgaon school. Examples, with boards as shown in official records:

Book a Free JEE Physics Demo +91 92204 75088A home tutor suits students who need specific gaps fixed, fall behind a batch's pace, or whose board schedule does not fit an institute timetable. An institute suits students who are already strong and like a competitive group. Many Gurgaon families use both: IIT JEE physics coaching in Gurgaon for structure and test series, and a home tutor for the chapters where the student is losing marks.
| One-to-one JEE physics tutor | IIT JEE physics coaching institute in Gurgaon | |
|---|---|---|
| Pace | Set by the student; slows down on weak chapters and speeds up on strong ones | Set by the batch; the same for everyone |
| Diagrams and working | The tutor watches the student draw and set up each problem, so errors are caught at the step where they happen | The teacher sees final answers or test scores, rarely the working |
| Mock analysis | Question-by-question review with the tutor | Score reports and ranks; personal review depends on the student asking |
| Board and practicals | Plan built around the student's own board, practical exam and school dates | Usually a fixed JEE plan, whatever the board |
| Travel | None for home tuition; online sessions also possible | Commute to the centre, often several evenings a week |
| Peer benchmark | Comes from external mock tests | Built in, through batch ranks |
Neither option suits every student. If your child loses marks to the same errors test after test, or has stopped asking questions in class, one-to-one help usually makes the biggest difference. For the wider picture across Physics, Chemistry and Maths, see our JEE Main and Advanced coaching in Gurgaon page.
Our Home Tutors Team has written a series of JEE physics guides, all reviewed by Ajay Vatsyayan. Go straight to the topic you need.
The best time is the start of Class 11, before gaps in mechanics build up. A student starting in Class 12 can still improve a lot, but the plan must be selective about chapters and revision time.
Both. Our tutors visit homes across Gurgaon, including DLF, Golf Course Road, Sohna Road, New Gurgaon and Dwarka Expressway, and also teach online one-to-one. Many use home sessions for teaching and online sessions for mock reviews.
Most Class 11 and 12 JEE students take two or three sessions a week of 60–90 minutes, plus set practice between sessions. The tutor recommends a number after the diagnostic, based on level, board workload and any institute classes.
In the JEE Main 2026 pattern, Paper 1 had 25 physics questions (20 multiple-choice and 5 numerical-value), worth 100 marks, with +4 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong answer in both sections. Calculators were not allowed. Check the NTA information bulletin for your exam year on jeemain.nta.nic.in, because patterns can change.
The core chapters are the same, but the JEE (Advanced) 2026 syllabus names extra topics such as the Doppler effect, rolling without slipping, radioactive decay and X-rays, and does not list electronic devices. Advanced questions also combine several ideas in one problem.
Both. If you are looking for physics tuition near you for Class 12 boards, our tutors cover CBSE, ISC, IB and IGCSE physics, including practical preparation. See our physics tuition in Gurgaon page.
Yes, and many Gurgaon students do. The tutor works around the institute's syllabus, fixing gaps and reviewing its test papers rather than teaching a parallel course.
