Ajay Vatsyayan Classes provides one-to-one language home tuition in Gurgaon for English, Hindi, Sanskrit and French, for Classes 1–12 on the CBSE, ICSE, ISC, Cambridge IGCSE and IB curricula. A tutor from our Home Tutors Team teaches at your home or live online, follows your child's school syllabus and textbooks, and builds reading, writing, grammar, literature and speaking. You meet the tutor in a free demo class first.
We have taught in Gurgaon (Gurugram) for 12+ years, with 25,000+ students, 500+ verified tutors and families from 50+ Gurgaon schools. Below we also explain CBSE's new compulsory third language (R3) from CBSE's own circulars.
Every session is one tutor with one student, at home or live online; many families use both.
From our tutors: in English and Hindi, many marks are lost not on ideas but on format and length: a formal letter without a subject line, or a 120-word task answered in 250 words. We mark every practice answer against the board's format and word limit, so the habit is fixed before the exam.
Book a free demo class: the tutor will run a short reading and writing check and tell you honestly what needs work.

English is compulsory on every board we teach.
In Classes 1–5: reading aloud, phonics, spelling and joined-up sentences (see our Classes 1 to 5 tuition). In Classes 6–8: tenses, reported speech and clauses taught through the chapter, plus paragraph, letter and story writing (see our Class 7 and Class 8 tuition pages).
Class 9 uses the new NCERT textbook Kaveri: reading 20, writing and grammar 30, literature 30, internal 20. Class 10 English Language and Literature (184) has reading 20, writing and grammar 20 and literature 40, from First Flight and Footprints without Feet; English Communicative (101) has reading 22, writing 22, grammar 10 and literature 26. See our CBSE Class 10 answer-writing tips and Class 10 tuition in Gurgaon.
English Core (301) adds 20 internal marks (listening 5, speaking 5, project 10) to an 80-mark paper: in Class 11, reading 26, grammar and creative writing 23, literature 31 (Hornbill, Snapshots); in Class 12, reading 22, creative writing 18, literature 40 (Flamingo, Vistas). English Elective (001) is a literature course for students heading towards English at university. See our Class 11 and Class 12 tuition pages.
ICSE English is two papers, English Language (composition, letter, comprehension, grammar) and Literature in English (prescribed drama, prose and poetry), each 2 hours for 80 marks plus 20 internal. In ISC, English (or Modern English) is compulsory; in the 2028 syllabus each paper is a 3-hour, 80-mark theory paper plus 20 marks of project work.
In the 2027–2029 English First Language (0500) syllabus, candidates take Paper 1 Reading (2 hours, 80 marks) plus either Paper 2 Directed Writing and Composition or a coursework portfolio; speaking and listening is optional and reported separately. For English as a Second Language, 0510 weights reading and writing 70% and listening 30%, with speaking reported separately, while 0511 weights reading and writing 50%, listening 25% and speaking 25%.
In the IB, MYP English is taught as language and literature or as language acquisition. Most English-medium Diploma students take English A (literature, or language and literature) at SL or HL; English B suits students still developing the language.
Hindi and Sanskrit both count as Indian languages (Bhartiya Bhashas) under CBSE's three-language rule. We teach reading and pronunciation, grammar (व्याकरण), comprehension, letter and essay writing, and the prescribed textbooks.
On every board, French progress depends on grammar (verb tenses and pronouns especially) and regular speaking practice.
From 2026–27, CBSE students study three languages (R1, R2 and R3), and at least two of the three must be Indian languages such as Hindi or Sanskrit. A non-native language such as English or French can be the third language only if the other two are Indian languages. Sources: CBSE Circulars Acad-17/2026 (9 April 2026), Acad-33/2026 (15 May 2026), Acad-46/2026 (2 July 2026) and Acad-49/2026 (10 July 2026).
| Class in 2026–27 | What applies | How R3 is assessed |
|---|---|---|
| Class 6 | Three languages, two of them Indian. Only the R3 languages a school introduces in Class 6 will be available to its students in Classes 9 and 10. | Board exam in R3 when these students (and later years) reach Class 10 |
| Classes 7 and 8 | Three languages to Class 10, two Indian. Students with two non-native languages add one Indian language. | School-based only; no board exam in R3 in Class 10 |
| Class 9 | Three languages, at least two Indian. One-time relaxation: a student with English and French adds one Indian language as R3. Schools began with the Class 6 R3 textbook plus a local literary text; NCERT is now publishing Class 9 R3 resources. | School-based only, out of 100: listening and speaking 40, creative writing 15, reading 20, writing 10, project 15. Must be cleared for the Class 10 pass certificate. |
| Class 10 | No change: two languages. | No R3 |
What this means in practice: a combination like English, Hindi and Sanskrit meets the rule, because Hindi and Sanskrit are both Indian languages. A combination like English, Hindi and French does not, for Classes 6–9 in 2026–27, because two of the three are non-native. Circular Acad-33/2026 says a foreign language can be studied as the third language only if the other two are Indian languages, or as an additional fourth language. Exemptions cover children with special needs, CBSE schools outside India and foreign students returning to India. Confirm the combinations your child's school offers. See our Class 6 tuition and Class 9 tuition pages.
From our tutors: with a new third language, the quickest progress comes from ten minutes of reading aloud and speaking in every session, not from copying answers. CBSE's Class 9 R3 framework gives 40 of 100 marks to listening and speaking, so we build speaking confidence from the first week.
