For a JEE Main or JEE Advanced aspirant living on or around Golf Course Road in Gurgaon, a one-to-one JEE home tutor can teach maths and physics at your home, or live online in weeks too crowded for a visit. What matters most is a tutor who knows your child's school board, teaches to the official JEE Main syllabus, keeps board chapters and JEE practice moving together, and can show you a written plan after a free demo. Below: nearby schools and boards, the JEE Main 2026 facts from NTA, a year-by-year plan, and how to judge a tutor.

JEE preparation at home along Golf Course Road

JEE students here usually have long school days followed by sport, music or projects, so the evening hour is precious. A home tutor removes the drive to a coaching institute and starts each session on the problem your child is stuck on, not the next item on someone else's timetable. For a JEE student that difference adds up: a doubt about limits cleared on Tuesday does not grow into a weak calculus chapter by December.

JEE students we teach here live in the Sector 42 and 43 towers, in DLF Phase 1 and DLF Phase 5, in Sushant Lok 1, and around Sectors 53 and 54. Local coverage is described on our pages for tutors covering DLF Phase 5 and tutors for Sectors 51–59, Gurgaon.

Schools near Golf Course Road and what each board means for JEE

How much extra work JEE needs depends mainly on the school board. The table sorts nearby schools by board, as confirmed in CBSE's SARAS directory or on each school's official site (we are not affiliated with any school named here).

BoardSchools near Golf Course RoadWhat JEE preparation adds
CBSEThe Pine Crest School (DLF Phase 1); Amity International School, Sector 43; DPSG Sushant Lok; Shalom Hills International School (Sushant Lok 1); the CBSE streams at Shiv Nadar School, Gurgaon and Suncity School, Sector 54Class 11 and 12 maths and physics cover most JEE Main units. The tutor adds depth, speed and previous-year questions to each chapter.
ISC (CISCE)Shikshantar School (South City 1); Scottish High International School (Sushant Lok 2)Content is close to JEE, but school papers reward long written answers. The tutor adds objective-style practice and timing.
IB and Cambridge IGCSEShiv Nadar School, Gurgaon (IB MYP and DP); Suncity School, Sector 54 (IGCSE, IB DP); Scottish High International School (IGCSE, IB)Some JEE topics, and the calculator-free, objective question style, sit outside the school course. The tutor fills those gaps chapter by chapter.

JEE Main 2026 facts that shape a home plan

These points come from NTA's JEE Main 2026 Information Bulletin, available on jeemain.nta.nic.in (NTA is the National Testing Agency). The pattern can change, so check the bulletin for your child's own exam year.

  • Two sessions. Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.) Session 1 ran from 21 to 30 January 2026 and Session 2 from 2 to 9 April 2026. A candidate may take one session or both; for those who take both, the better of the two NTA scores counts towards the merit list.
  • Format. A three-hour computer-based test of 75 questions for 300 marks, with maths, physics and chemistry worth 100 marks each.
  • Question types. In each subject, Section A has 20 multiple-choice questions and Section B has 5 questions answered as a numerical value, rounded to the nearest integer.
  • Marking. Four marks for a correct answer and minus one for a wrong one in both sections. Unanswered questions score zero.
  • Ties. Equal total NTA scores are separated first by the maths NTA score, then physics, then chemistry.
  • Eligibility. There is no age limit. The eligible Class 12 years were 2024 and 2025, plus those sitting Class 12 in 2026.
  • Board marks still count. The bulletin reproduces the CSAB 2025 rule for NITs, IIITs and other NIT+ institutes: at least 75% aggregate in Class 12 (65% for SC, ST and PwD candidates), or a place within the highest 20 percentile of successful candidates of the candidate's board, by category.

So maths, the first tie-breaker, deserves fixed weekly slots, and the NIT+ rule means board preparation cannot be set aside in Class 12.

What a JEE home tutor works on, year by year

Class 11: building the base

Class 11 carries much of the JEE algebra, trigonometry and coordinate geometry, and mechanics fills most of Class 11 physics. The tutor teaches each school chapter to board standard, then adds JEE-level questions on it in the same week. For a term-by-term Class 11 plan, see the right time to begin JEE preparation in Class 11.

Class 12: boards and JEE together

Calculus, vectors, 3D geometry, electrostatics and modern physics arrive while Class 11 topics still need revision. A good tutor keeps a running list of Class 11 weak spots, slots short revision into Class 12 sessions, and shifts towards timed, mixed practice before the January session. Around the board exams, board papers take priority.

A drop year

For a student repeating the exam, the first month is diagnostic: full-length papers, chapter-by-chapter error analysis, and a short list of chapters where most marks were lost.

One tutor or two?

From Class 11, most families take separate tutors for maths and physics, because each subject needs a specialist. See our JEE physics tutor in Gurgaon page for physics, and our JEE Main and Advanced preparation page for how maths, physics and chemistry fit together.

From our tutors: two habits we build early

Calculator-free fluency. The JEE Main bulletin lists calculators among the items not allowed in the exam hall, yet IB and IGCSE students use a calculator for much of their school maths. For students from those schools, hand calculation at speed is often the biggest shock. We open sessions with ten minutes of algebra and arithmetic done by hand until it feels routine.

Rounding only at the end. Section B answers are entered as integers. Suppose the exact answer to a question is 2√7. Since √7 ≈ 2.646, the answer is about 5.29, so the correct entry is 5. A student who rounds √7 to 3 halfway through gets 6, and loses a mark instead of gaining four. We ask students to carry exact values, or at least two decimal places, until the last line.

How to choose a JEE tutor and use the free demo

Ask every candidate the same questions so you can compare fairly:

  • Which year's JEE Main syllabus are you teaching to, and where does it differ from my child's school syllabus?
  • How will you split time between board chapters and JEE practice this term?
  • How will you track mistakes, and what will you report to us each month?
  • When will you start previous-year JEE questions, and how?

In the demo, give the tutor a chapter your child has already finished at school. A capable JEE tutor will test it at JEE level, find the gap within the hour, and tell you plainly what the next month should cover. For a wider checklist, read our parent's guide on choosing a home tutor in Gurgaon. If your child needs board maths help rather than JEE, see our companion article on maths home tutors on Golf Course Road.

Timings, fees and practical points

One-to-one home tuition with us usually costs ₹600 to ₹3,000 per hour depending on class, board and subject. Our article on how home tuition charges in Gurgaon are worked out explains what moves the rate.

Most JEE students take two or three sessions a week per subject, and more in the months before an exam. Share your child's free evenings and weekend slots when you call, and we will match a tutor whose timetable fits. If your building registers visitors, add the tutor as a regular visitor so sessions start on time. Families who prefer a woman tutor can ask for one. When exams or travel make a visit difficult, the same tutor can teach online that week.

Frequently asked questions

Which areas near Golf Course Road do your JEE tutors cover?

Home sessions run in DLF Phases 1 and 5, Sectors 42, 43, 53 and 54, Sushant Lok 1 and nearby areas. Students elsewhere can take the same one-to-one classes online.

Can a home tutor prepare my child for JEE Advanced as well as JEE Main?

Yes. JEE Advanced needs deeper problems that combine several ideas, so the tutor moves to Advanced-level practice once Main-level work on a chapter is secure. Eligibility for JEE Advanced is set each year in the official JEE (Advanced) information brochure.

My child is at an IB school. Can they still prepare for JEE?

Yes, with a plan. The tutor maps the JEE Main syllabus against the IB course, teaches the missing topics, and builds calculator-free speed. Start early in the Diploma years so the extra work is spread out.

Does my child have to sit both JEE Main sessions?

No. Under the JEE Main 2026 bulletin, a candidate could take one session or both, and where both were taken, the better NTA score counted for the merit list. Check the bulletin for your child's year.

Is online one-to-one as good as a tutor at home for JEE?

It can be, if the student is self-motivated and shares photos of their working so the tutor sees every step. Our guide to online vs offline JEE maths classes compares the options in detail.

What should we have ready for the first JEE session?

The school maths and physics notebooks, the last two school tests, and any JEE practice your child has attempted. These show the tutor where marks are going before the first lesson is planned.
