Gurgaon Tuition Demo Classes: What to Expect

A tuition demo class in Gurgaon is one free, one-to-one lesson with the tutor who would teach your child, held at your home or live online. It usually runs about 1 hour. In that time the tutor checks your child's level, teaches one real topic from the school syllabus, and then tells you what regular sessions would focus on. You owe nothing afterwards. This guide covers what happens from your first call to your final decision, how the demo changes with your child's age and board, and what one lesson can and cannot tell you.

What a demo class is, and what it is not

Think of the demo as a sample of the real thing, not a sales meeting. It should look like an ordinary working lesson, because that is what you are deciding whether to pay for.

It is a single session with one tutor and one student, based on your child's own syllabus and recent schoolwork.
It is a two-way check. You judge the tutor, and the tutor learns where your child's gaps are.
It is not a free week of classes, or a chance to get this week's homework finished.
It is not a test your child can fail. A tutor who makes a nervous child feel judged in the first hour is telling you something useful.

From first call to demo: the usual timeline

Most families have a demo within a day of their first call. The steps below show where your time goes.

The first call or form (5–10 minutes). We ask for the class, board, school, subjects, your sector or society, and the days and times that suit you. Tell us here if you would like a male or female tutor.

The short brief. Before the demo, we ask you to share a recent test paper or a photo of a notebook page. The tutor then prepares for your child's actual gaps, not a generic lesson.
The demo itself (about 1 hour). A quick check of the starting point, a teaching segment, and a few minutes with you at the end.
Your decision. Take a day or two if you need it. If you go ahead, the tutor proposes a weekly schedule. If not, you can ask for a different tutor and a fresh demo.

How the demo changes with your child's stage

A demo for a seven-year-old looks nothing like one for a JEE aspirant. Use this table to know what a sensible demo at each stage should concentrate on.

From our tutors: with younger children, the first ten minutes of a demo are mostly about trust. We often start with something the child is already good at, such as reading a favourite page or doing a sum they know, before touching the weak area. A relaxed child shows you their real level; an anxious one hides it.

Home demo or online demo: what changes

The teaching is the same in both formats, but the setting affects what you can see.

At home

Choose a table in a shared space, with good light and nothing on the screen nearby.
Keep the school diary, the textbook and the notebook for the subject within reach.
A home demo lets the tutor watch your child write, hold a pencil or use a compass. That matters most for younger children and for geometry.

Online

A laptop or tablet works better than a phone, because your child needs to see written working clearly.
Keep a notebook and pen ready. Ask your child to hold their page up to the camera when the tutor asks, or share a photo.
Test the link, the microphone and the internet connection ten minutes before the start.

What one demo can and cannot tell you

A single lesson is a strong signal, but it has limits. Knowing them stops you from over-reading a good or bad hour.

What it can show

Whether the tutor explains in a way your child follows.
Whether your child is willing to ask questions and to attempt a problem alone.
Whether the tutor spotted the real gap, and can describe it to you in plain words.
Whether the tutor knows your board's syllabus and the way it sets questions.

What it cannot show

Reliability over time: punctuality, notice before cancelling, homework checks. Those only appear over the first month.
How your child responds when a topic gets hard and the novelty wears off.
Any change in school marks. No honest tutor can promise marks after one lesson.

From our tutors: the most common misunderstanding we meet is a parent judging the demo by how much syllabus was covered. A demo that covers one small idea thoroughly, with the child explaining it back at the end, is usually a far better sign than one that races through a chapter.

Questions the tutor will ask you

Expect a few questions during the closing conversation. Having answers ready makes the plan more accurate.

When are the next school tests or exams, and which chapters do they cover?
How long does homework in this subject take each evening?
Which days and times are realistic around school, sport and other classes?
Does your child already have tuition in other subjects?
How would you like to receive updates, and how often?

Deciding after the demo

Give yourself a clear basis for the decision rather than a general impression.

Ask your child first, before you share your own view. Did they understand? Would they be happy to see this tutor twice a week?
Look at what the tutor told you. Did they name specific topics and habits, or only say your child is "good but needs practice"?
Ask for the plan in writing. Days, session length, the first few topics and how progress will be shared.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a tuition demo class last?

About 1 hour. For children in Classes 1 to 3, the tutor breaks the hour into short activities with pauses, because attention drops quickly at that age.

Is the demo tutor the one who will teach my child?

That is our aim wherever possible, because judging one person and then being taught by another defeats the purpose. If a change is ever needed, we tell you before sessions start.

Can we have demos with two tutors before choosing?

Yes. Some families compare two tutors for the same subject. Keep the topic similar in both so the comparison is fair.

Should my child prepare anything?

No revision is needed. Just have the textbook, the notebook and a recent test ready, and tell your child it is a chance to meet a new teacher.

Can one demo cover two subjects?

It is better to book one demo per subject. Each subject may suit a different tutor, and splitting an hour between two leaves too little time to judge either.

What if my child refuses to talk in the demo?

It happens, especially with younger children. A patient tutor will slow down, switch to something easier, and still give you useful feedback. If the silence continues, a second short demo on another day often goes differently.
