Home Tutor for Scottish High International School Students in Gurgaon – ICSE, ISC, IGCSE and IB

Scottish High International School, in Block G of Sushant Lok 2 (Sector 57, Gurgaon), runs several curricula under one roof: CISCE's ICSE and ISC, Cambridge IGCSE, and the IB Primary Years, Diploma and Career-related Programmes. Two children in the same building can therefore be preparing for completely different papers, so tuition has to start with one question: which track is your child on? A one-to-one home tutor from Ajay Vatsyayan Classes plans around that track, either at your home or in a live online session.

Ajay Vatsyayan Classes is an independent home-tuition service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Scottish High International School. We have worked in Gurugram for 12+ years and taught 25,000+ students, and families from schools such as Scottish High International School book our tutors for anything from early reading support to IB Diploma Maths.

What Scottish High International School's boards mean for tuition

In one line: the tutor follows your child's own programme, its syllabus and its style of assessment, rather than a generic "Class 9" plan. Here is how the needs differ by programme and stage.

IB PYP (primary years)

The Primary Years Programme is built on units of inquiry that cut across subjects, and it ends with a student-led exhibition in the final year. There is no fixed textbook to "finish", so a tutor's job at this stage is foundations: fluent reading, confident number sense, neat written explanation and the habit of asking good questions. When the exhibition comes round, the tutor can help a child plan research and practise presenting, while the work itself stays the child's.

ICSE (up to Class 10)

The ICSE examination at Class 10 is conducted by CISCE. Physics, Chemistry and Biology are examined as separate papers, English carries two papers (language and literature), and most subjects include project work alongside the written paper. The demands we see most often are long, precise written answers, labelled diagrams, and Maths working shown in full. Tutors build these steadily from Class 8 onwards so that Class 10 is revision rather than first learning.

Cambridge IGCSE (Classes 9–10)

Cambridge IGCSE is a two-year course. Many subjects, including Mathematics and the sciences, are offered at Core and Extended levels, and the level decides which papers a student sits. Questions lean heavily on command words such as "describe", "explain" and "suggest", and science includes a practical or an alternative-to-practical paper. Tutoring here is syllabus-led: working from the Cambridge International subject syllabus, then past-paper practice under time.

ISC (Classes 11–12)

ISC Class 12 papers are set by CISCE. The science subjects have practical examinations, and ISC Mathematics has a compulsory Section A with a choice between Section B and Section C. Students who also plan for JEE or NEET need a tutor who can teach the ISC answer style and the entrance-exam problem style side by side.

IB DP and IB CP (Classes 11–12)

IB Diploma students take six subjects, usually three at Higher Level and three at Standard Level, plus the core of Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS. Each subject has an Internal Assessment. Career-related Programme students take at least two DP courses together with the CP core, which includes a reflective project. Our tutors support the DP courses themselves (Maths Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation, Physics, Chemistry, Economics and more) and help with the planning and structure of IA writing, always within the IB's academic-integrity rules.

How one-to-one tuition fits around the school year

The simplest rule is to plan backwards from assessments your child already knows about. In practice that works like this:

  • First fortnight: the tutor looks at the child's notebooks, the programme syllabus and any recent assessed work, then writes a short plan with you.
  • Term weeks: sessions shadow what is being taught in school that week, with one slot kept for older gaps.
  • Coursework phases: for ICSE projects, IGCSE practical skills or DP Internal Assessments, the tutor helps with planning, method and drafts, not ghost-writing.
  • Before exams: the focus moves to past papers, timing and a mistakes log.
  • Holidays: a lighter timetable, useful for consolidating one weak subject or starting next year's hardest unit early.

Most families start with two or three sessions a week and adjust after the first month. Fees are ₹600–₹3,000 per hour, depending on class, board and subject.

Frequently asked questions

Are you connected to Scottish High International School?

No. Ajay Vatsyayan Classes is an independent home-tuition service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Scottish High International School. We teach the published ICSE, ISC, IGCSE and IB syllabuses, using the books and notes your child brings home.

Can the tutor follow Scottish High's syllabus and worksheets?

Yes. Share the worksheets, notebooks and any term plan the school sends home, and the tutor will teach in the same order and use them for practice. Where a programme has an official syllabus document, the tutor checks coverage against that too.

Do you teach ISC and IB DP Class 11–12?

Yes, both. ISC students get support with theory, numericals and practical files; DP students get support at HL and SL, including IA planning. Senior Maths and Physics are the founder Ajay Vatsyayan's own subjects, which is why he reviews our Class 11–12 guidance.

Should lessons be at home or online?

Either. Home tuition suits younger children and students who focus better face to face; online sessions suit busy senior students and families outside Sectors 51–59. Families can also ask for a female tutor, subject to availability.

Is there a free demo class before we commit?

Yes. The demo lasts about an hour, is usually arranged within a day, and is taken by the tutor who would normally go on to teach your child. Call or WhatsApp +91 92204 75088 to book.
