Ajay Vatsyayan Classes offers one-to-one home tuition for Classes 1 to 5 in Gurgaon: a tutor from our Home Tutors Team visits your home, or teaches your child in a live online class, and every session is for your child alone. Lessons follow the books and worksheets your child's school actually uses, whether it is a CBSE, ICSE, Cambridge or IB school. Most parents contact us about reading, early maths or homework habits, so this overview explains what each board expects in the primary years and how our tutors work with young children.
At this age the subjects look alike on paper, but the books, the pace and the way a child is assessed differ a great deal from one board to the next.
NCERT is replacing its primary textbooks under the National Curriculum Framework for School Education 2023. Its textbook page now lists titles such as Joyful Mathematics and Mridang (English) for Classes 1 and 2, and Maths Mela (listed as Math-Mela for Classes 4 and 5), Santoor (English) and Our Wondrous World for Classes 3 to 5, where "The World Around Us" takes the place of the old EVS subject. A few older titles, such as Marigold and Math-Magic, still appear for some classes, which is why the tutor confirms the exact book with you in the first session. CBSE has also launched a Computational Thinking and Artificial Intelligence curriculum framework for Classes 3 to 8 from 2026–27 (Circular Acad-15/2026), so some schools now timetable simple logic and pattern activities from Class 3.
CISCE holds no public exam before the end of Class 10, so ICSE primary classes run on each school's own syllabus, books and tests. Its ICSE regulations do require a third language to be studied from at least Class 5 to Class 8, which means many ICSE children meet a new language in their last primary year. Our tutors find that ICSE primary English expects neat, complete sentences early, so written expression gets steady attention alongside reading.
Cambridge International describes its Primary programme as typically for 5 to 11 year olds, with English, Mathematics and Science at its core. Schools choose their own resources, so a tutor plans each session from the class notes and the school's term overview rather than from a single textbook.
The IB states that the PYP is for children aged 3 to 12, and learning is organised around units of inquiry rather than chapters. Support at home is less about drilling exercises and more about fluent reading, secure number sense and helping a child explain what they discovered in class.
Young children learn well when lessons are calm, short and predictable, and that shapes how our Home Tutors Team plans every primary session.
From our tutors: in Classes 3 and 4, many word-problem mistakes are really reading mistakes, and a child who reads the question aloud and underlines what is being asked often corrects them without learning any new maths.
From our tutors: children who say "I hate maths" at seven are usually stuck on one missing idea, most often place value, and the dislike tends to fade once that single gap is filled.
For families choosing a primary tutor, it helps to know that our tutors have 5–15 years of teaching experience, and the team includes IIT and NIT graduates. You can ask for a female or a male tutor, and the brand brings 12+ years of home tuition in Gurgaon, 25,000+ students taught and 500+ verified tutors. Founder Ajay Vatsyayan reviews the teaching guidance that our tutors follow.
These pages go deeper than this overview, so use them once you know what your child needs:
Our tutors visit homes throughout Gurgaon (Gurugram), including Sector 50, Sectors 44–49, DLF Phase 3 and Sectors 90–99, and live online classes reach families anywhere else.
Across the 50+ Gurgaon schools we cover, primary children come to us from schools such as Blue Bells Model School, Sector 4, Summer Fields School, DLF and Lotus Valley International School (CBSE), Shikshantar School and Lord Jesus Public School, Sector 8 (CISCE), and Manav Rachna International School, Sector 46 (IB PYP) (we are not affiliated with any school named here).
Not every child does. A tutor helps most when reading, writing or early number work starts slipping, or when nobody at home can sit with homework regularly, and the free demo is a low-pressure way to find out which applies to your child.
Yes: at this stage a single tutor can cover English, maths, EVS or science and Hindi together, and we can arrange a separate language tutor if your child also needs Sanskrit or French.
Whatever the class, one-to-one home tuition with us usually costs ₹600 to ₹3,000 per hour depending on class, board and subject. Our article on home tuition charges in Gurgaon explains what a fair fee looks like.
For Classes 1 and 2 we usually suggest home visits, since reading practice and handwriting need a tutor sitting beside the child; from Class 3, short live online lessons suit many children, particularly for revision before school tests.
Yes, and because neither programme uses one fixed national textbook, the tutor builds each lesson around the current unit or topic from the school's planner.
