Manav Rachna International School in Greenwood City, Sector 46, offers two complete routes: CBSE, and the full IB continuum of the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes. A child can spend twelve years on either route, and the skills each one builds are not the same. This page is for parents weighing up a home tutor and wanting to know how one-to-one tuition in Gurgaon would work for their child's route and class.

Here is the core difference in a sentence: CBSE rewards thorough command of the NCERT textbook and board-style answers, while the IB rewards inquiry, extended writing and work judged against criteria. Your tutor follows your child's own track, and the two routes are described separately below.
Primary (Classes 1–5): reading comprehension, tables, basic operations and neat, complete sentences. Middle (Classes 6–8): the newer NCERT textbooks, a third language, which CBSE is introducing from Class 6, and the jump to algebra and separate science chapters. Classes 9–10: a full two-year build towards the Class 10 board paper, with Maths at Standard or Basic level, internal assessment through the year, and practice on the sample papers on cbseacademic.nic.in. Classes 11–12: a stream choice between PCM, PCB, Commerce and Humanities, practicals in the sciences, and often JEE or NEET running in parallel.
PYP (primary): learning is organised into transdisciplinary units of inquiry, and the programme closes with the PYP exhibition. Tutors help with literacy and numeracy, which the inquiry model assumes but does not always drill. MYP (middle years): each subject is assessed against four criteria, and students finish with a personal project. A tutor makes the criteria concrete, showing what a high-level "communicating" or "applying" answer actually looks like in Maths or Sciences. DP (Classes 11–12): six subjects, typically three Higher Level and three Standard Level, with Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay and CAS, plus an Internal Assessment in every subject. Full programme details are on ibo.org.
Some students move from CBSE to the IB Diploma after Class 10, or from MYP to CBSE Class 11. Both moves leave gaps. A CBSE student entering DP Maths may be fluent at procedures but new to investigations and calculator-based modelling; an MYP student joining CBSE Class 11 may find the pace of NCERT numericals tough. A tutor can bridge these gaps over a holiday before the new session begins.
Every class from 1 to 12 is covered on both routes, with the tutor matched to your child's programme rather than simply their age. A Class 9 MYP student and a Class 9 CBSE student may study similar science, yet they need quite different kinds of practice.
The tutor's timetable should follow your child's workload, which rises and falls through the year. We usually plan it in four phases:
A point our tutors often make to parents: short, regular practice beats long weekend sessions, especially in Maths. Fees range from ₹600 to ₹3,000 per hour depending on class, board and subject.
Greenwood City is in Sector 46, and our home tutors in Sectors 44–49, Gurgaon cover the neighbourhood. Society pages near the school:
Families outside these sectors, or children who prefer screen-based lessons, can have the same tutor teach online, with written notes shared after each session.

Yes. Bring out the notebooks, worksheets and unit outlines, and the tutor will teach alongside them. For CBSE the reference is NCERT; for the IB it is the subject guide and the criteria your child has been given.
Yes, both routes. Senior Maths and Physics are the founder Ajay Vatsyayan's own teaching areas, and the wider team covers Chemistry, Biology, Economics and Commerce subjects.
Both are available with the same tutor. Home visits suit children who concentrate better in person; online works well when school days run long. A female tutor can be requested, subject to availability.
There is. It runs for about an hour, is usually set up within a day, and is taught by the tutor who would normally continue with your child, so you judge the actual fit.
